No Notice RequiredNew Hampshire recently eliminated its notification and assessment requirements: 2026 N.H. Laws Ch. 290 (HB 1268), signed by Governor Ayotte on July 10, 2026, made annual notification and annual evaluation/recordkeeping optional rather than mandatory, effective July 1, 2026 (a handful of related provisions are delayed to January 1, 2027). This is a very recent change. HSLDA's own state-summary page has not yet been updated and still shows notification and assessment as required, which is now stale; HSLDA's own dedicated article on HB 1268 confirms the change. New Hampshire has never set a minimum number of instructional days or hours, before or after this law. The 180-day figure shown is a general recommendation only. Given how fresh this law is, re-verify in the next couple of months as state guidance catches up.
