Ohio Homeschool Requirements

Ohio's homeschool law changed substantially in October 2023: House Bill 33 (ORC §3321.042) eliminated the prior testing/portfolio-evaluation requirement entirely, and with it, the prior 900-hour standard. Ohio now sets NO minimum instructional hours or days. Ohio now requires only notification and an assurance that six subject areas are covered. This is a real, dated statutory change (not a data-entry error). Ohio was previously classified as "moderate" and should now be treated as "low."
