The core daily habit in Homeschool Owl is logging a day: a set of +/- steppers, one per subject, that take a few seconds to fill in once you've settled on a rhythm. A compliance ring shows your progress toward your state's instructional-day requirement in real time, so you always know where you actually stand instead of guessing at the end of the year.
That ring is honest about what's actually required. A meaningful share of states set no real instructional-day minimum at all; for those, the ring shows the figure as a planning recommendation rather than a legal requirement, since presenting a made-up number as a hard requirement would be misleading.
The log works offline. If you fill it in without a connection, whether at a co-op with bad wifi or just because your phone is in airplane mode, it queues locally and syncs automatically the next time you're online, so a bad connection never costs you a day's record.
